The
HCUUF Book Club
On the third Sunday of each month, the HCUUF Book Club
meets in the Hobby Room after Coffee Hour (around 10:30
a.m.) to review and discuss books of
interest. Discussions center on how the UU seven
principles apply to the book in question – well, okay,
that’s where we START… Discussions have been known to
fly off into all kinds of interesting directions beyond
that! All are invited to participate – and you don’t
even have to read the book!
Books discussed
in the last year include One Dharma, The Emerging
Western Buddhism, by Joseph Goldstein; Prodigal
Summer, by Barbara Kingsolver; The Coming Plague:
Newly Emerging Diseases in a World Out of Balance,
by Laurie Garrett; How We Die: Reflections on Life's
Final Chapter, by Sherwin B. Neuland; and The
Gospel of Thomas.
HCUUF Circle Suppers
Circle Suppers provide an opportunity for HCUUF members
and friends to interact socially in small group
settings. They typically take place one weekend per
month and are hosted in the homes of HCUUF members. If
you are interested in hosting or attending a Circle
Supper, please contact Joan de Graaff at
jdg@ colorado.net.
Bike Path Clean-Up Day
For the third year in
a row HCUUF has adopted the county paved recpath segment
around the Summit County Community and Senior Center and
County Commons Building. We kicked off the season with
a congregation-wide cleanup after services on June 4.
The kids (and adults) involved in Religious Education
will continue to keep our adopted segments in tip-top
shape through the summer. To give a hand, contact Todd
Robertson or Lizzie Anderson.
