Committees

The work of our committees is the life and heart of this volunteer-run Fellowship. Members and seasonal Friends are encouraged to help with the numerous and ongoing tasks which keeps this Fellowship functioning. Please contact a Committee Chair if you would like to serve and help with any committee work.

Celebrations

Chair - Barbara Schott [byschott@aol.com]. This Committee programs the weekly Sunday services with guest speakers and music. It seeks to provide meaningful services with sermons that are spiritual, thought-provoking, and embracing of the great issues and challenges of life. Speakers come from diverse backgrounds - UU ministers and those of other faiths, accomplished artists, dedicated educators, distinguished scientists and elected officials, among others.

Circle Suppers

Chair - Ruth Hertzberg [ruthhertzberg@msn.com]. These monthly pot-luck dinners are social gatherings of Members and Friemds over good food and good conversation. Frequent participants are asked to also host about twice a year.

Finance

Chair - Charlie Krupanszky [krupansc@summit.k12.co.us] The responsibilities of this committee are to work with the Board of Trustees and its Treasurer to:

• Formulate, execute and monitor the annual budget
• Plan and implement the annual pledge drive
•  Plan and conduct special fundraising events
• Work in coordination with the Gift Trust Committee
• Create year-end tax documents for donors
• Arrange for periodic audits

Gift Trust

Chair - Harold Gant [hdgant@msn.com]. It is the responsibility of the Gift Trust Committee to:

• Collect and record donations for capital projects
• Contemplate and provide for long-term capital projects
• Maintain accurate accounting for the Gift Trust Foundation
• Plan its fund drives in coordination with the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees

Membership

Chair - Maria Cheng [cheng001@umn.edu]. The responsibilities of this Committee are to:

• coordinate Book Group and Women's Spirituality Group
• assemble welcome packets for new members.
• coordinate annual Path to Membership class.
• maintain attendance record and name tags.
• greet attendees at Sunday Services.
• arrange for  set-up/clean-up of Sunday Services.
• coordinate food and drink for Sunday Services.
• help those facing a medical or other problem. (coordinate meals, transportation, baby-sitting etc.)

Nominating

Chair - Bob Anderson [bandjanderson@comcast.net]. The responsibility of this Committee is to recommend a slate of candidates for election to the Board of Trustees at the Annual Meeting and also whenever these positions need to be filled.

Religious Education

Chair - Jennifer Miles [mtnmiles@comcast.net]. This Committee coordinates and delivers a weekly curriculum for our children during the Sunday Service. We at HCUUF value and love our next generation and seek to educate them about  and in accordance with UU principles in a safe and loving environment.. We try to help them make and find meaning of their life experiences. Our children take part in the first 15 minutes of the Sunday Service, then they depart for their own 45-minute curriculum, taught by volunteer Members or Friends as well as invited educators. 

Scholarship

Chair - Barbara Schott [byschott@aol.com] This committee annually fundraises and distributes scholarships to first generation college bound students, identified through a competitive application process..

Social Justice

Chair - Don Parsons [parsondo@hotmail.com]. It is the responsibility of this Committee to:

• create community interface with HCUUF in social justice activites of community forums,  relevant film/documentaries/plays and seasonal activities such as Salvation Army bell-ringing or holiday gifts or literacy programs..
• designate special offerings such as Change-for-Change collections and distribution.
• help conduct Sunday Service with Social Justice themes.
• coordinate the monthly Book Group
